How to measure your body

To ensure a proper fit, we ask that you take reasonable care in measuring and recommend you wear one of your better fitting shirts while taking measurements.

For all measurements pull the tape snug, but not tight.  We will add allowances for a slim fit and any fabric shrinkage.

A

Height

Self explanatory.  If you prefer you can specify the length you like your shirt.

B

Collar/Neck

Measure around your neck at collar height. We will allow for any shrinkage.

C

Shoulders

Measure across your shoulders from one end of the bone to the other (or one seam on a well fitting shirt to the other). Note your start & end points as these will be the base of your arm measurement.

We recommend you double check your measurements against a well fitting shirt. Click here for instructions.

D & E

Left and Right Arms

Let your arm hang naturally. Measure from the end point of the previous shoulder measurement, down the arm to desired sleeve length. For many it is 1 inch above the 1st knuckle of the thumb.

We recommend you double check your measurements against a well fitting shirt.  Click here for instructions.

F

Chest

In a relaxed posture, measure around the chest (don’t let the tape droop in back) at the fullest part.  Please note, this may differ from your suit jacket chest measurement.

G

Waist

In a relaxed posture, measure around the waist (don’t let the tape droop in back) at the fullest part (around navel height).  This is not the time to suck in your gut.  You’ll end up with strained buttons. Please note, this is not the same as your trouser waist measurement.

H

Bicep

With your arm hanging at your side unflexed, measure around the fullest part of your upper arm.

I

Wrist

Measure around your wrist at the bone.  Let us know if you wear a heavy watch on one wrist.

And that’s all there is.  If you have any questions, feel free to drop us a note and we will be happy to walk you through it.

We maintain a .5-1" tolerance depending on the measurement point.  Some measurements like collars, sleeves, and shirt lengths are made with a small allowance for shrinkage in the first few washes.
